Hijab row | State must prescribe secular uniform, says Karnataka govt

India Today accesses an affidavit filed by the Karntaka government over the hijab row. The affidavit said, "While discharging the constitutional obligation of imparting education, the state has to prescribe a secular uniform dress code for the students."

"Prescribing the uniform also flows from the fundamental duty caste on the state under article 14 and 46 of the constitution," the affidavit said, adding that, "Every religion and caste will have their own belief, faith and practice".
